How We Check Our Facts
Last updated: November 2026
TwinSprout is two things: my honest experience as a twin mum, and the rules and figures that apply to UK families. They're checked in different ways, and I want you to know how.
The money, the rules and the dates
Every amount, date and deadline on the site, from maternity pay and Child Benefit to grants, leave and childcare hours, is checked against the official source: GOV.UK, mygov.scot, nidirect, or the organisation that runs the scheme. The pages link to those sources so you can check them for yourself.
Most rates change every April. I recheck the money pages, the FAQ and the Twin Deadline Planner each April, and whenever a big change is announced.
Unless a page says otherwise, figures are for England. Where Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland do things differently, I say so.
Health and safety
Health information follows the NHS. Safe sleep follows The Lullaby Trust. Helpline numbers and opening hours come from the charities themselves, such as PANDAS, Samaritans and Twins Trust.
When I describe what I did, that's my experience, not advice. Every pregnancy and every baby is different, so always check with your GP, midwife or health visitor.
My story
The personal pages are my own memory of what happened to me and my boys. I've told it as honestly as I can.
Twin mum stories
Stories from other mums are their own experiences and opinions. I edit them lightly, and they approve the final version before it goes live.
Spotted something wrong?
Please tell me. Email hello@twinsprout.co.uk and I'll check it and correct the page as quickly as I can. If a mistake could affect what someone claims or when, I'll fix it first and tidy up afterwards.
